Through the combined efforts of more than 1,000  passionate and committed national, state, and local partners – and thanks to the generous support of founding sponsor Johnson & Johnson and founding partner The Wireless Foundation – HMHB’s text4baby program has connected more than 600,000 pregnant women and new moms to vital health and safety information through the delivery of 60 million free, educational SMS text messages.

The service, which times messages to baby’s due date or birth date, is helping to address the overwhelming infant mortality rate in the United States, where 1 in every 8 babies is born preterm each year and 28,000 die before their first birthday. Health experts from CDC, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), March of Dimes, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and others work to develop text4baby’s content, covering pregnancy through baby’s first year of life.
